The Misdemeanors Court in Fifth Settlement has ordered the continued detention of a suspect accused of murdering a family in Fifth Settlement for an additional 15 days pending ongoing investigations into charges of premeditated murder, according to judicial proceedings reported across regional legal coverage.
The case, which drew widespread public attention after circulating widely across social media networks, centers on a multi-stage crime allegedly driven by financial distress and the pursuit of hidden wealth. Law enforcement authorities in Cairo launched an intensive investigation following a formal missing person report filed on the 10th of the current month, according to official police disclosures.
A relative of the primary victim—identified in official reports as a printing press owner residing within the jurisdiction of the Fifth Settlement police precinct—contacted local authorities after failing to establish contact with his brother. Responding officers proceeded to the victim’s residence, where they discovered his vehicle bearing visible bloodstains and bullet holes. Subsequent searches near the residence led to the recovery of the bodies of the victim’s wife and two daughters inside the wife’s car.
Through investigative measures and information gathering, security forces identified the perpetrator as a retired friend of the male victim living in the Dokki district of Giza Governorate, as detailed by law enforcement officials. Investigators stated that the assailant then transported the male victim’s body to an isolated spot behind a concrete barrier along the Ain Sokhna road, where he abandoned the remains.
Returning to the victims’ neighborhood, the suspect allegedly contacted the victim’s wife and falsely claimed that her husband had suffered a traffic accident and required hospital transport. Once inside her vehicle alongside the mother and her two daughters, the assailant drove them toward the same remote highway and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of all three family members, according to case files compiled by investigative authorities.
The Attempted Cover-Up and Apprehension
Following the shootings, the suspect drove the victims’ vehicle back to their residential area and parked it nearby, concealing it with a protective cover. Court documents note that the suspect attempted to enter the home to carry out the planned burglary but retreated after encountering the building’s watchman, intending to return later under the cover of darkness.
