The Clubs Association published a statement about the timing of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) elections.

In the declaration, it was stated that the TFF elections should be held in the first week of June.

In the statement made by the Clubs Association, the following statements were made:

“We believe that the date of the elective general assembly, which was announced by the President of the Turkish Football Federation to be held on July 18, is essential to be held in the first week of June for the reasons we share below.

In our country, the football season generally ends at the end of May every year, and for our clubs that will play in the European Cup preliminary qualifiers, football activities restart at the end of June at the latest. This being the case, all new season planning must be made in accordance with this calendar. For;

1. The financial calendar year of sports clubs is between 31 May and 1 June. In this context, it is an inevitable reality that the necessary changes to the Club License and Financial Sustainability Instruction must be made in accordance with this schedule. For the changes to be made for the new season on these issues, the new management should be given the space to act in accordance with its own perspective, football management understanding and principles.

2. Actions and behaviors that occur during the season of football activities in our country are evaluated and decided by the TFF Board of Directors, Legal Boards and other executive boards. At this point, the biggest problem is the distrust in the TFF Board of Directors and other boards responsible for the organization and management of our country’s football. Therefore, it is essential for boards to start and continue the term with the same management approach in order to ensure management and decision stability.

For this reason, a reasonable period of time should be allowed until the start of the new season for the newly elected management to establish boards in line with their own perspective and principles. Although the new management did not have enough working time from its own principles and perspective after being elected on July 18, and even if it made these changes, it is not possible for the leagues to meet the start date, considering the announcement and arbitration objection periods.

3. Considering that the 2024/2025 football season has been announced to start on August 9, 2024; Since it will not be actually possible for the new management to prepare transfer periods, league statuses, A Team lists and player eligibility, preparing it with the current understanding that we demand to change will not serve the intended purpose.
4. The determination of referee classification appointments for the new season should be left to the newly elected board of directors. For this reason, it is not possible to accept the date of July 18, which will leave no room for action for the newly elected administration.

5. The TFF Main Statute, instructions, league and cup statuses, which constitute the management principles of the country’s football, must be prepared in accordance with the material reality, as a result of detailed research and information exchange with football stakeholders. Constant revision of instructions that are not prepared in this way throughout the year as the season continues will damage the feelings of fairness and justice.
The most recent example is the cancellation of the amendment made in the 3rd paragraph of the 44th article of the Football Disciplinary Instruction by the arbitration committee in the 2023/2024 football season.

6. While the 2024/2025 season TFF budget is determined by the current Board of Directors, the possibility of decisions that may affect the new management to be elected reveals how justified our today’s demand is.

The chaotic situation in our country’s football is not at a point where it can tolerate even a day’s delay. For this, we have to put our personal interests and expectations aside and hold the TFF Elective General Assembly at the beginning of June. “Those who evade this responsibility today will be remembered in history for the damage they caused to Turkish football.”
