XDefiant, the new Call of Duty-like free-to-play 6v6 shooter from Ubisoft that brings together Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and The Division, has already been postponed several times, but now a final release is finally about to happen. The game is set to launch on May 21 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
To start with, there will be a 6-week pre-season to give players the opportunity to get to know the game, while Ubisoft will undoubtedly also do some tinkering with the game and servers. During this pre-season, 5 modes (Domination, Hot Shot, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control), 14 maps, 24 weapons and 44 attachments will be available. The 14 maps in question are:
- Arena
- Attica Heights
- Dumbo
- Echelon HQ
- Emporium
- Liberty
- Mayday
- Meltdown
- Midway
- Nudleplex
- Village
- Showtime
- Times Square
- Zoo
The five previously announced factions will be available during the pre-season. This concerns Libertad (Far Cry), Phantoms (Ghost Recon), Echelon (Splinter Cell), Cleaners (The Division) and Dedsec (Watch Dogs). You will have to unlock or buy the latter.
After the pre-season, XDefiant will follow a schedule with a new major update every quarter. Such a new season will come with a 90-tier battle pass, new maps, new weapons and more. In total, Ubisoft already has 4 new factions, 12 new maps and 12 new weapons ready to provide XDefiant with new content in the coming year.
