Cazenga with a record of more than 75 thousand cases of malaria this year –

More than 75 thousand cases of malaria were registered in the municipality of Cazenga, from January to March this year, informed the municipal director of Health, Caetano Miguel.

In the same period, in 2023, the municipality recorded close to 80 thousand cases of malaria, according to the director, who spoke on Friday, at the launch of the municipal campaign to combat malaria.

He said that pregnant women and children under 5 years of age are the most affected, adding that to combat the disease, the main measures include the elimination of mosquito breeding sites, through environmental sanitation actions, the use of mosquito nets and insecticides.

He informed that the Cazenga Health department has distributed mosquito nets and carried out intra and extra-household fumigation actions, as well as awareness-raising lectures in the communities.

The most affected urban districts are Kalawenda, Hoji-ya-Henda, Cazenga Popular and Tala Hady.

The municipality of Cazenga has an estimated population of two million inhabitants and 15 public health units, including one general hospital, two municipal hospitals, five health centers and three health posts.
