In our new edition of the Gadget of the Week series, we’re going to show you a truly original charger that no one near you has for sure. However, you have to pay a little extra for this exclusivity, as is usual.
Charger from the Red Dragon
You probably know the Nubia brand. It is a Chinese mobile phone manufacturer. Its Redmagic line of game-tuned smartphones is especially famous. And if this opulent “Paran” design language is close to you, in addition to the phones, you might also be interested in the distinctive Redmagic Dao 150 W charger, which the manufacturer offers on the global market, including in Europe.
The first thing that catches your eye is the design. The charger has a transparent design, thanks to which you can literally see its insides. Connoisseurs will also be pleased with the display on the side, which clearly shows how much power is “flowing through the individual ports”. We bet you that you have never seen a charger like it before.
As for the dimensions, they are 101 x 71 x 35 millimeters. The weight is 870 grams, so you will definitely have to think about whether you want to carry such a large and heavy device with you “everywhere”.
Charging power and equipment
Nubia boasts that the charger can handle a charging power of up to 150 W. This is true, but as you can imagine, not all devices can use this power. Redmagic Dao has the following port equipment, which also relates to the performance of individual ports:
- 1× USB-A – až 22,5 W, Quick Charge 4.0+, AFC, Apple2.5
- 2× USB-C – až 140 W, Power Delivery 3.1, Quick Charge 4.0+
- 1× DC – up to 150 W (20 V and 7.5 A)
Power Delivery 3.1 technology, which the Redmagic Dao charging hub brings as one of the first on the market, is essential. In principle, this enables more powerful fast charging and more robust temperature control for safe and efficient charging.
You can place the charger either directly on the wall (it is available for Great Britain, USA, Canada, but also Europe, so you can count on European plugs for the network), or you can use it as a charging station on your desk and charge your gaming laptop. This is precisely what the DC connector with a high power of 150 W is used for.
Price and availability
The colorful luminous charger Redmagic Dao 150 W with a transparent design will go on sale already this March, currently no pre-sale is available on the manufacturer’s website. You can only get a notification sent when the device is available.
In terms of price, however, the product is in a completely individual category. Nubia priced the product at 199 euros, i.e. about 5,050 crowns. To this, you will need to add a few hundred for shipping. It’s not even a mistake, an original product demands an original price tag.
