The April 16th bulletin from the Cubatão Epidemiological Surveillance Service (SVE) records 35 confirmed cases of dengue in the municipality, 3 more compared to the previous bulletin on the 11th. The number of discarded cases rose from 322 to 401 and there are 8 inconclusive cases. The number of notifications under investigation rose from 322 to 330.

The distribution of confirmed cases is as follows: 5 occurred in Jardim Casqueiro and another 5 in Vila Natal; 4 in Vila Esperança; 3 in Vila São José; 2 in Vila dos Pescadores, 2 in Vila Couto, 2 in Vila Ponte Nova and 2 in Jardim Nova República; in addition to cases in Centro, Cota 200, Fabril, Jardim Santa Tereza, Bolsão 7, Iha Bela, Jardim 31 de Março, Jardim das Indústrias, Vila Nova and Parque São Luiz (1 in each).

There is one death from dengue in the municipality, reported in the April 11th bulletin, a 1-year-old child who died on March 14th. The positive result for the exam was announced on April 6 by the Adolfo Lutz Institute. Bulletins are updated on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

CHIKUNGUNYA – Regarding chikungunya, there is 1 confirmed case; the number of discarded cases is 25 and 46 notifications are under investigation. Regarding zika virus, there are no notifications.

TECHNICAL GROUP – The Technical Group to Combat Dengue was established by the Health Department on February 21st with the aim of outlining the city’s strategies in the face of the national epidemic scenario and the state of emergency decreed by the government of São Paulo on March 5th after the State has surpassed the mark of 300 confirmed cases of the disease for each group of 100 thousand inhabitants. With 31 cases confirmed to date, Cubatão records 27.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (population of 112,476 people — IBGE, 2022).
