Chinese brands are starting a real price war not only in their own country but also in Europe. BYD Seagull, the Chinese compact electric car that will also arrive in the Old Continent next year, could really change the electric car market.

At the Beijing Motor Show, the latest version of the full-fledged five-door city car was presented, which promises a lot with its autonomy of 250 km according to WLTP. The price of the model in China starts from the equivalent of 8,100 euros, and in 2015 in Italy it will be sold from 12,000 euros.

BYD Seagull (in translation – seagull) belongs to the Ocean series of electric cars of the Chinese brand, has five doors and is 3.78 meters long, which is slightly longer than the Fiat Panda.

The car even has a small front trunk, while at the back there is a cargo compartment, which with the rear backrest folded has a maximum capacity of 930 liters.

The currently available engine for BYD’s front-wheel-drive small city model is 75 hp, with a battery choice between a 30.08 kWh lithium iron phosphate LFP and a 38.88 kWh.

With a 30.08 kWh battery, the Seagull should travel around 250 km in the WLTP cycle, while the larger version of the BYD Blade can reach 300 km.

The BYD Seagull was launched in China a year ago, in April 2023, and will arrive in Europe in 2025 in an updated version of the one shown in Beijing.
