Four citizens aged between 23 and 49 were detained by the SIC in Malanje, after being accused of fraud crimes.
Pretending to be experts in removing spells, they charged money to the population, arguing that they would solve witchcraft problems in the family.
The arrest took place last Saturday, 20th, in the Guvo neighborhood, Malanje province, at a time when the aforementioned four citizens, identified by the names of Ulala Augusto Lundemba, Lucas Castro Lucanga, Paulino Paulo Figueira and Marcos da Conceição Bomba Peso, entered at the residence of a 95-year-old woman, under the pretext that she was a neighborhood witch.
Inside the elderly woman’s residence, the supposed experts in removing spells took advantage of the elderly woman’s fragility, and stole monetary amounts in the order of three hundred thousand kwanzas from her possession.
For the supposed work of removing the spell, the elderly woman charged whoever contacted them, in this case one of the family members, 163 thousand kwanzas, an amount of which only 72 thousand were recovered after being detained, as reported to the Kianda’s MailChief Inspector Augusto Barros André, Head of Institutional Communication and Press at SIC in Malanje.
