Punk stated. He further noted that if defeated, he would be prepared to shake Rhodes’ hand and immediately seek a rematch.

During the show, Sami Zayn interrupted a segment involving Finn Bálor to argue that the SummerSlam title match should be expanded into a triple threat, stating he wants to see Rhodes defeat Punk because he has previously beaten Rhodes for the title.
