Cowboys’ schottenheimer to Address Pickens’ Social Media Response to Sherman’s Criticism
Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer plans to speak with wide receiver George Pickens regarding a now-deleted social media post. This comes after Pickens responded to criticism leveled by former All-pro cornerback Richard Sherman during Thursday night’s broadcast of the Cowboys’ 44-30 loss to the Detroit Lions.
schottenheimer acknowledged being aware of the post, stating he hadn’t yet spoken with Pickens as of Friday. He emphasized this is a common situation within professional sports, requiring a check-in with the player. “I will be talking to him, just checking on him,” Schottenheimer said.
Sherman’s Critique and Pickens’ Initial Response
Sherman,providing analysis on Prime Video,suggested Pickens appeared “uninterested” and “disengaged” during the game. Pickens caught five passes for 37 yards, failing to record a reception of more than 10 yards for the first time this season.
Following the game, Pickens defended his performance, suggesting Sherman should have understood the defensive coverage. he also pointed to the impact of ceedee Lamb’s third-quarter concussion.
Escalation and Deletion of the Post
however,Pickens’ initial response escalated on Friday with a social media post that has since been removed. In it, he questioned Sherman’s understanding of the game and made a pointed remark about Sherman’s career being defined by his time with the “Legion of Boom” defense. “It’s funny cause I thought former players would know that,” Pickens wrote, adding, “WHO BTW AINT SHH WITHOUT THE LEGION OF BOOM.”
schottenheimer Defends Pickens’ Effort
Despite the social media controversy, Schottenheimer defended Pickens’ effort after reviewing game film. He believes the entire team, including the coaching staff, underperformed. “I don’t think any of us coached or played well enough,” he stated.
Schottenheimer underscored his faith in Pickens’ overall performance and potential.He pointed to Pickens’ career-best statistics this season as evidence of his elite talent. “All in all, I’m going to judge George on his body of work,” Schottenheimer explained.
* Pickens currently ranks in the top 10 in the NFL in:
* Catches (78)
* Receiving Yards (1,179)
* Touchdowns (8)
He drew a parallel to CeeDee lamb’s bounce-back from a tough game against Philadelphia, highlighting Lamb’s impressive performance before his concussion.
Lamb’s Status and Looking Ahead
Speaking of Lamb, the star receiver is currently in the NFL’s concussion protocol.fortunately, the cowboys have a bye week, with their next game not scheduled until December 14th.
Schottenheimer reported Lamb is “doing well” but must complete all necessary evaluations. “he had a good day [Friday],” Schottenheimer said, “but he has to go through all the checks and balances of all that stuff.I do think the extra couple of days should hopefully help him.”
This situation highlights the pressures faced by modern NFL players, navigating on-field performance with the added scrutiny of social media and media commentary. The Cowboys will undoubtedly aim to move forward, focusing on preparation for their next challenge while addressing these internal matters.
