The crowdfunding campaign for Bram Boer from New Amsterdam raised 26,720 euros. Last Saturday, the check was presented to the organization at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam during the 538 Morning Run organized by Radio 538.

The 538 participants who took part in the 5.38 kilometer tour, including Bram’s father Justin, raised a total of 884,890 euros.

That money goes to the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology, the research hospital in Utrecht where all children with cancer in the Netherlands are treated. 12-year-old Bram is currently being treated for lymphoma in that hospital.

Cure every child with cancer

Winning was not the top priority on Saturday in the Olympic Stadium during the 538 Morning Run, but a much higher goal was: curing every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. And Justin Boer, together with 537 other runners, wanted to give everything for that. To support other participants, he even ran 5.38 kilometers twice.

According to Boer, the crowdfunding campaign has made a lot of waves in New Amsterdam and the surrounding area in recent weeks. “We are really impressed by all the responses and support. A small or large gesture, we greatly appreciated everything. It is fantastic to be able to make this wonderful contribution to the Princess Máxima Center,” says Justin Boer.

Big blow

It was also a big blow for students at Carmel College in Emmen when they heard that their classmate was ill. They raised almost 2,000 euros by selling Easter eggs. The benefit concert at the beginning of March in the Postkantoor café in New Amsterdam raised more than 4,500 euros.
