Will Harm Return? David James Elliott Addresses a Potential JAG & NCIS Crossover
Teh question on many fans’ minds: could we see Harmon “Harm” Rabb Jr. back on our screens, potentially even crossing over into the world of NCIS? David James Elliott, the actor who brought the iconic JAG character to life, recently addressed the possibility, and his insights offer a realistic, yet hopeful, outlook.
Elliott understands the current television landscape. He acknowledges the trend of reboots often prioritizing fresh faces. “You know those reboots, they go, ‘Yeah, thank you. We got new guys!'” he commented, reflecting on how legacy characters are sometiems treated in revamped series.
A Look Back at JAG‘s Legacy
JAG originally premiered on NBC in 1995,quickly becoming a hit. The show followed the dedicated lawyers working within the U.S.Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s office. It than found a long-lasting home on CBS, running until 2005.
Throughout its run, JAG featured a memorable cast. Elliott starred alongside Tracey Needham as Meg Austin in the first season, and later Catherine Bell joined him as Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie, forming a dynamic duo that resonated with audiences.
The NCIS: Los Angeles Reunion
several years after JAG concluded, Elliott and Bell revisited their roles in seasons 10 and 11 of NCIS: Los Angeles. This wasn’t a random occurrence. Elliott explained the reunion stemmed from a long-standing friendship with writer R. Scott Gemmill, who contributed to JAG early in its run.
He pitched an idea to Gemmill, and the writer proposed the NCIS: LA appearance. Elliott described the experience as “fun,” emphasizing the enjoyment of collaborating with a trusted colleague.
What About a NCIS Crossover?
Despite the prosperous NCIS: Los Angeles cameo, Elliott doesn’t anticipate a similar appearance on the flagship NCIS series anytime soon. He admits he doesn’t have existing relationships with the current cast.
However, he remains open to the possibility. ”I don’t really know any of the people on NCIS, but I guess if they came to me, I certainly would consider it,” Elliott stated. So, while it’s not something he’s actively pursuing, he’s not ruling it out entirely.
Currently, you can find Elliott starring in Revival on Syfy. He’s focused on this new role,but the door isn’t fully closed on a potential return to the JAG universe - or a surprising visit to NCIS.
