When Carina went to her gynecologist in November 2020, she actually just wanted to know the cause of her missing period for months. She is in her late 20s and had stopped taking the pill six months previously. To this day she is convinced that her missed period could only have something to do with it. But during the initial consultation, the doctor expressed another suspicion, which her blood values ​​subsequently confirmed: Carina is suffering from hypothalamic amenorrhea. Carina only realized what this meant for her when she started researching at home. She reads that this disorder is often associated with eating disorder occurs. And that she is barren. “I couldn’t believe it,” she says today. She was sure she had only lost a few kilos. Carina, who always wanted to have a child, realized then that she would now have to fight for it.
