The integration of technology into Durga Puja is undeniable. Though,wiht innovation comes duty.IT professional Sumitam Shom highlights a growing concern: the potential for misuse of AI, especially through deepfakes and deceptive imagery.
“Durga Puja is our biggest, most special festival – and now AI is part of the conversation,” Shom explains. “It can do a lot of good,but there are risks too,especially fraud. Without safeguards, someone could misuse photos and deceive people. So, it’s crucial that we use these technologies responsibly.”
This underscores the need for vigilance and ethical considerations as AI becomes increasingly prevalent during the festival season.
A Sensory Awakening: Addressing Environmental Loss
Beyond the digital realm,many pandals are tackling pressing real-world issues.One particularly poignant installation, themed “Shabdo” (“Sound”), focuses on the dwindling sounds of nature within urban environments.
