New Delhi: The Central Election Commission has said that the news that the BJP got more votes than it polled in the mock poll held yesterday (Wednesday) in the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency is baseless. The Deputy Election Commissioner informed the Supreme Court about this.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had directed to look into the allegation that in the mock poll held in the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency, the BJP got more votes than it polled. Based on this, the Commission informed the Supreme Court that the news that the BJP got extra votes was baseless after holding discussions with the District Election Officers.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan pointed out in the Supreme Court that the BJP got more votes than it polled. Bhushan cited the news in an online media and pointed this out in the Supreme Court. A bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta directed the Election Commission to look into the matter.
