A bakery located in San Jose, California, USA, received pending payment for an order worth thousands of dollars from Tesla, following the intervention of CEO, Elon Musk, following extensive media coverage of the incident.

Bakery Giving Pies said it received a last-minute order for 4,000 mini pies from Tesla for Valentine’s Day, generating a significant revenue of $6,000 (around €5,500) for the small business. However, the order was abruptly canceled by Tesla, leaving the bakery without compensation, explains ‘The Guardian’.

After the story gained prominence in the media, Elon Musk responded publicly, promising to “improve things” with the bakery. Tesla subsequently made a payment of 2,000 dollars (1,850 euros) as compensation.

The incident highlighted the struggles small businesses face when dealing with large companies, with the bakery owner expressing concerns about Tesla’s corporate culture.

Positive media coverage led to a wave of support for Giving Pies, with reports of customers queuing up at the store to buy pies.
