Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment, have released the gameplay trailer for Upheaval, a new season for the popular free-to-play shooter Apex Legends.
There was no new Legend last season because Respawn Entertainment wanted to focus on improving the game. This time there is a new Legend, Alter, a character who is called the embodiment of disruption, because she has passed through many dimensions.
Alter has very interesting abilities that are briefly shown in the trailer below. She seems to be changing the meta of Apex Legends. Alter’s skills are as follows:
- Passive: Gift from the Rift – Her passive ability remotely loots an item from the inventory of fallen enemies. The ability is great for swapping weapons or suddenly conjuring up a surprise Shield Battery.
- Tactical: Void Passage – Alter’s tactical ability creates a portal to send enemies back to the spawn room or make a quick escape.
- Ultimate: Void Nexus – When players activate her ultimate ability, a device is placed on the ground that anyone on her team can use to open a one-way portal back to that specific location.
In addition to a new playable character, Apex Legends: Upheaval comes with much more content. This way, players can get started with Solo Takeover, a game mode that will replace Duos. Every Legend must fight for themselves here.
In Broken Moon Statters mode, a nightmare becomes reality. Olympus crashes into Cleo’s stasis module. This brings major changes to the map with new POIs and an evenly distributed battlefield. Furthermore, there are Apex Artifacts: Legends can customize the theme, power source and more of each variant with Exotic Shards. Finally, just like every new season, there is also a new Battle Pass with both free and premium tiers of rewards.
The release of the new season is very soon. Apex Legends: Upheaval will be available as a free update to all players from May 7, 2024. Apex Legends is available free-to-play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Origin and Steam.
