Actor Rajesh Sharma has been discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating at his Mumbai residence following a health complication caused by an insect bite. The actor, who was hospitalized in Kolkata earlier this month, is reportedly in stable condition and is preparing to resume his professional commitments, including an upcoming international project.
Health Update and Recovery Status
The incident occurred on July 8 while Sharma was at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where he had been filming for the upcoming project Fauzi, which stars Prabhas. According to accounts shared by actress Sudipta Chatterjee and filmmaker-producer Agnidev Chatterjee, the actor was bitten by an insect while speaking with local technicians in a vegetated area. Initially, the bite did not appear to be a serious medical concern, and Sharma proceeded with his scheduled travel to Kolkata.
Upon his arrival in Kolkata, his condition deteriorated; he experienced severe pain in his right leg, developed a high fever, and became restless. He was subsequently admitted to Manipal Hospital for treatment. Following several days of medical care, Sudipta Chatterjee provided an update confirming that his health was improving, though he remained under observation. BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), confirmed the actor’s discharge and current recovery status.
“Rajesh Sharma ji recently got discharged. He is currently recuperating at his residence in Mumbai. He is also set to travel abroad in the days to come to shoot for a project,” Tiwari stated.
Industry Support and Public Response
The news of the actor’s hospitalization prompted an outpouring of concern from colleagues and fans within the Indian film industry. Among those who publicly expressed support was actor Akshay Kumar, who addressed the situation via social media.
On X (formerly Twitter), Kumar shared a photograph of himself with Sharma, accompanied by a message of solidarity. “Very concerned to hear about my dear friend Rajesh’s health condition after an insect bite while shooting. Hope Mahadev blesses him with fast and complete recovery. Jaldi theek ho ja yaar, abhi saath baith ke bhot hansna hai,” Kumar wrote.
