Tomorrow, the NS will take a coordinated action to indicate that ‘the limit is full’ with regard to violence against NS personnel. Today’s extra checks are a foretaste of this. Travelers are already checked for tickets at the station and a close eye is kept on whether everyone checks in.

Eight boys

Last Saturday, two conductors chased a group of six to eight boys on the train between The Hague and Delft. The group then attacked the female conductor, pushed her down the stairs into the double-decker train and kicked her. The woman had to be treated in hospital. A boy was arrested.

The assault happened around 10:30 p.m. That is why the NS will stop all trains for three minutes at that time tomorrow. The shops at the stations also close for three minutes. Last year, the NS counted more than 1,000 incidents of violence against its employees. This involved threatening, spitting or physical violence.
