The university community celebrated the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Medicine

05/03/2024, Ciudad Mendoza, Ver.- “Since its founding in 1974, the Faculty of Medicine of the Orizaba-Córdoba region of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), firmly rooted in Ciudad Mendoza, has constituted a stronghold within the university educational geography and a fertile development pole for the health system in the center of the state,” said rector Martín Aguilar Sánchez, leading the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of this academic entity.
He emphasized that the Faculty has faced challenges that range from the requirement to bring the students who pass through its classrooms closer to the set of knowledge and methods of one of the most fascinating medical specialties such as surgery.
“He has proposed updated perspectives on surgical procedures and approaches, drawn original epistemic cartographies for the transmission of knowledge, without neglecting or ignoring the essential relationship between mentor and apprentice,” he pointed out.
The Rector lived with the academic and student community
The Rector highlighted that this entity is the bearer of refreshing practices and theories that color its field of study and infect it with new initiatives.
On behalf of the university community, he congratulated each of the people who make up the Faculty of Medicine for contributing with work, dedication and fidelity to the idea of the doctor’s responsibility before science and society.
“I invite you to continue inhabiting your Faculty and University in a professional and excellent manner,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Roberto Guapillo Vargas stated that, since its founding, UV Medicine has been a space dedicated to the training of human resources who, upon graduation, provide quality health services to society.

Alejandro Pimentel Domínguez, director of the Faculty of Medicine, said that no one can plan a future without being committed to their origins, which is why the academic entity in charge does not forget the objective of its creation: to train doctors with a vocation to care for the population.
He highlighted that its graduates occupy 85% of positions in the health system in the region, thus responding to the social need to serve.
He thanked the university authorities for joining the celebrations for the 50th anniversary, and promised to face the challenges of linking with the productive sector and expanding community clinical practice.
