Robert House Gets a Backstory: A Deep Dive into Fallout Season 2’s Biggest Reveal
Fans of the Fallout franchise are in for a treat.Season 2 of the Prime Video adaptation promises to expand the universe you love, with a especially exciting focus on Robert House, the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas. The new season, arriving December 17th, isn’t just packed with Easter eggs – it’s delving into the before story of one of the game’s most iconic figures.
Season 1 expertly wove in nods to the games, and according to the cast, Season 2 takes that dedication to another level. Actor Walton Goggins, who brilliantly portrays Cooper Howard (The Ghoul), emphasizes the pervasive detail. “Every single corner you look there’s an Easter egg,” he shared. “But none more than House. It becomes this larger than life presence.”
Beyond the Screen: Humanizing Robert House
For those familiar with Fallout: New Vegas, House is largely experienced through a monitor. He’s a disembodied voice and face, a technological marvel. But the showrunners – Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Graham Wagner, and Jonah Nolan – are taking a different approach.
Justin Theroux, who embodies House in the series, explains their vision. “In the video game we don’t really see flesh and blood House,” he said. “Mr. House is (mainly on) screen. And I think (the producers) are smart enough to be like, ‘No, let’s see this guy breathing. Let’s see what he was like before the Armageddon.'”
This means you will see a more vulnerable, human side to the character.Theroux relished the challenge of bringing that depth to life. He aimed to honor the legacy established by René Auberjonois, the original voice of House, who sadly passed away in 2019.
“The challenge was just to make him as realized as possible,” Theroux admitted. “Obviously not phone it in and not really try and compete with the wonderful actor who had already been his voice in the game.”
A Collaborative Energy on Set
The dynamic between Goggins and theroux adds another layer of excitement. Longtime friends, this marks their first on-screen collaboration.
Goggins expressed his anticipation. “I’ve been a fan and friend of Justin for a really long time,” he said. “We had never worked together. What I was most looking forward to was being in that space and watching my friend do his thing and listening to him.”
Theroux reciprocated the sentiment, describing Goggins as a master performer. “it’s kind of like getting invited to watch your favorite magician do their magic tricks,” he explained.”We had a couple really barn-burner scenes to do together and it was really fun to chop those scenes.”
What to Expect in Fallout Season 2:
* A Deeper Dive into New Vegas Lore: Expect significant exploration of the region and its history.
* Character Backstories: Robert House isn’t the only character getting expanded upon.
* Faithful Adaptations with Creative Liberties: The showrunners are clearly committed to respecting the source material while forging their own path.
* More Easter Eggs: As Goggins confirms, the show is brimming with details for dedicated fans.
Ultimately,Fallout Season 2 appears poised to deliver a compelling experience for both longtime players and newcomers. It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of the fallout universe and a promising sign of what’s to come.
