Once again fired in the gaming industry, this time at Build A Rocket Boy, the studio that former GTA producer Leslie Benzies founded in 2016. Jobs are expected to be lost at the company worldwide, but it is not known exactly how many layoffs are involved. According to Build A Rocket Boy, the layoffs are necessary to better position the studio for the future.

As mentioned, Build A Rocket Boy was founded in 2016 and already had sky-high ambitions. The studio is backed by China’s NetEase and raised another $110 million last year.

Despite the fact that the studio has been active for years, not much has been effectively launched in terms of games, so much so that the question can be asked whether the momentum has passed in the meantime.

One of Build A Rocket Boy’s major projects is Everywherea metaverse game in the line of Roblox and Fortnite, but what we have seen so far from Everywhere does not appeal to the imagination.

MindsEye then again is another AAA project from Build A Rocket Boy that should be more in line with traditional single-player games. Although we’ve seen little of it so far, it’s reminiscent of a next-gen sci-fi GTA. However, it is currently unclear when MindsEye could actually be launched.
