From Lifesaving Rescue to Educational Initiative: A Teacher’s Second ‌Chance ⁣and a Community’s New Focus on First aid

A chance encounter on a beach has blossomed into a powerful educational project ‍aimed at equipping students and the wider community with life-saving skills. The ⁣story centers around Andreina ugolini, a 60-year-old mathematics and science teacher,‌ and Eleonora Valeri, a 41-year-old emergency medical technician (EMT) ⁣with the 118 emergency⁤ service ⁢in Città di Castello, Italy. Their lives became intertwined last summer when Eleonora’s quick actions ⁣saved Andreina’s life on the beach in Fano, and their connection has grown into a collaborative ⁢effort to promote first aid awareness.

A Dramatic⁢ rescue ⁣and an Unexpected Bond

On August ‌10, 2024, while vacationing at Bagni La Baia in Fano, Andreina ⁤Ugolini experienced a sudden cardiac event while swimming. Reports detail that Eleonora valeri, an off-duty EMT, promptly recognized the severity of the⁢ situation ‌and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). With the assistance of 17-year-old lifeguard Nicola Isotti, Eleonora continued CPR until Andreina’s heart resumed beating.

Subsequent medical evaluations revealed that Andreina ⁢had a congenital bicuspid aortic valve – a heart defect she was previously unaware of – which caused the‍ cardiac⁤ arrest under physical stress. ‍She underwent triumphant surgery at the hospital in Ancona.
