FIS Revamps Sponsorship Strategy for Global Growth
the International Ski Federation (FIS) is undergoing a notable shift in its sponsorship approach, aiming to attract a wider range of global partners and elevate the visibility of its various disciplines. This strategic overhaul focuses on creating a more unified and valuable platform for sponsors, moving beyond traditional event-specific deals.
A New Era of Partnership
Traditionally, sponsorship within FIS events has been fragmented. Now, the organization is directly offering rights packages that combine both the FIS world Cup and World Championships. This allows brands to secure title rights to individual events and become overarching partners for the World Championships.
National ski associations will continue to manage the sale of local sponsorship inventory for events hosted within their respective countries. This tiered approach aims to maximize revenue opportunities while maintaining local relevance.
Expanding Global Reach
This change is designed to appeal to brands seeking broader exposure and deeper engagement with the sport. You can now perhaps acquire title partnership rights to a FIS World Cup event, alongside a premium package encompassing the FIS World Championships. National ski associations will still oversee local inventory sales for the events they host.
Over the past year, FIS has already begun building its global partner network.New collaborations include agreements with Azerbaijan’s state tourism agency and CHiQ,alongside an expanded partnership with payment technology leader Visa.
Focus on Long-Term Collaboration
“We’re striving to become a truly global organization,” explains a key figure within the FIS. “To increase awareness of our sport worldwide, we need to attract global brands that share our vision.”
The FIS is actively transitioning from simple sponsorships to genuine partnerships. They are seeking brands willing to invest in the long-term development of the sport across multiple disciplines and competitions. This isn’t just about individual events; its about building a sustainable future for skiing and snowboarding.
A unified Platform for 2026/27
From the 2026/27 season onward, the FIS intends to present a cohesive, global platform specifically designed for these partners. This unified approach promises to deliver increased value and visibility for sponsors, ultimately benefiting the entire sport.
Key Benefits for Sponsors:
* Expanded Reach: Access to both World Cup and World Championship events.
* Global Visibility: Increased brand exposure across multiple disciplines and competitions.
* Strategic Partnership: Opportunities to collaborate on the development of the sport.
* Targeted Engagement: Ability to connect with a passionate and engaged audience.
