O Ministry of Health expanded flu vaccination to people over six months of age. The measure comes into effect as soon as states and municipalities receive notification from the ministry.

The announcement was made by minister Nísia Trindade on X (formerly Twitter) this Tuesday (30). According to her, this expansion occurs to respond to the increase in influenza cases in the country.

Despite being expanded to all audiences, municipalities will be able to define their strategies based on the available vaccine stock.

“Depending on the vaccine stock and the situation of cases in each location, there may be specific restrictions for certain age groups in order to guarantee the vaccination of priority groups, but in an exceptional way”, said Nísia Trindade.

Also according to the minister, the expansion will only have no effect in the northern region of the country, as the application of the vaccine from six months of age onwards had already been carried out in November last year.

Flu vaccination in Brazil began on March 25th.
