Chilean Television Personality Addresses Impact of Former Partner’s Departure
The recent resignation of Julio César Rodríguez from Chilevisión, where he held roles as both a host and programming director, has prompted a response from his former partner, Francisca García-Huidobro. García-Huidobro, who recently joined the network herself, publicly addressed the situation via her Instagram account, stating that the news “hit me both professionally and personally.” The situation unfolds against a backdrop of shifting dynamics within Chilean television, a sector often subject to restructuring and personnel changes.
García-Huidobro initially refrained from commenting, explaining in an Instagram post that she had been intentionally “disappeared” due to the volume of inquiries regarding Rodríguez’s departure. She stated her right to remain silent when she doesn’t feel inclined to speak. However, she ultimately decided to address the matter, acknowledging the significant impact of Rodríguez’s resignation on her own professional endeavors. The pair share a history both personal and professional, adding layers of complexity to the situation.
According to García-Huidobro, her decision to accept a project at Chilevisión was directly linked to Rodríguez’s involvement. “Of course, the resignation hit me, it hit me professionally and personally, it’s quite obvious why,” she explained. “I was invited to a project in which Julio was involved, and that was part of the decision to accept that project at that time.” With Rodríguez no longer with the network, a key component of that project has been removed. Despite the professional setback, García-Huidobro emphasized the enduring nature of her relationship with Rodríguez, stating, “Our relationship is much more than a job or a television channel. Our relationship is eternal and will be eternal.”
Maintaining a degree of privacy regarding their personal conversations, García-Huidobro affirmed that any discussions with Rodríguez regarding the matter would remain confidential, as has been their practice. “What I may have said to Julio will remain private, what he has said to me will also remain private, as always, given that that’s how it works for us, that’s how we’ve remained strong as parents too,” she stated. This commitment to privacy underscores the couple’s desire to navigate this challenging situation with discretion and respect for their family dynamic.
García-Huidobro to Remain with Chilevisión
Despite the disruption caused by Rodríguez’s departure, García-Huidobro confirmed her continued commitment to Chilevisión. She acknowledged the frequent changes that occur within the television industry, particularly following acquisitions, where personnel shifts are common. “That’s how television is, that’s how it works,” she said. “Last year, my boss was changed after four months. It happens in television when a channel is bought, pieces are moved. If I thought that piece was going to move, no, of course not. But in the given scenario, I wish Julito all the best wherever he goes. Congratulations to whoever takes him, because he is a person who knows a lot about television, he is a tremendous boss, a tremendous leader.”
García-Huidobro emphasized that she intends to fulfill her two-year contract with Chilevisión, stating she already has “a lot of perform” ahead of her. This commitment signals her resilience and determination to continue her career trajectory despite the recent upheaval. Chilevisión, a prominent television network in Chile, has been a key player in the country’s media landscape for decades.
