In the first round, Geneviève Schamps, vice-rector of the human sciences sector at the Neo-Louvan university, came first, collecting 46.7% of the votes cast. Françoise Smets, dean of the faculty of medicine and dentistry, won 38.5% of the votes.

Françoise Smets is a full clinical professor at UCLouvain and dean of the faculty of medicine and dentistry.

Françoise Smets is dean of the faculty of medicine and dentistry, member of the Academic Council. She was president of the Master’s jury and vice-dean for internships. Françoise Smets was also president of the board of directors (CA) of the UCLouvain Health Center, member of the CAs of the university center of general medicine, the Laënnec medical center and Louvain Médical. She is also a member of the working group (GT) on the general regulations for studies and examinations as well as the steering committee of the GT on the promotion of studies.
