Wilma Petrillowidow of Gal Costarequested an urgent conciliation hearing with Gabriel Penna Burgos Costa, the singer’s only son. The two are involved in a legal dispute over the artist’s inheritance. The information was confirmed this Monday, 22nd, by Gabriel’s advisor to Estadão. The hearing, however, does not yet have a date set.
Petrillo’s lawyer, Vanessa Bispo, informed Estadão that the hearing aims to “bring together mother and son so that they can resolve their differences”.

Petrillo claims that he had a stable union with Gal and is therefore his heir. Gabriel initially acknowledged this condition before a judge, but later backtracked and filed a lawsuit to annul the document, arguing that they did not live as a couple.
“She became my mother’s manager, really. They started living together, but without any type of relationship other than friendship and work”, said the singer’s son in an interview with Fantástico.
Gabriel filed a lawsuit to claim his right to his mother’s inheritance. He contests the fraction intended by Gal’s former manager – and presented by the press as his widow – Wilma Teodoro Petrillo. The process is being carried out in secret at the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP).
Information about the process was confirmed to Estadão by one of Gabriel’s lawyers, Luci Vieira Nunes. The lawyer confirmed to the report that she provided legal advice to Gal in 1998, including in a labor action. Luci also worked on Gabriel’s adoption process.
Lawyer Mariana de Athayde Ferreira is also part of Gabriel’s defense. In a note sent to the reporter, Luci says that Gabriel hired the lawyers to defend his rights to his mother’s inheritance and “and says that (Gabriel) will defend her will in court”.
In August 2023, Wilma was appointed as inventor of the assets left by Gal. At that moment, Gabriel, still a minor, was placed under the temporary custody of the businesswoman.
Before that, in July of the same year, the São Paulo Court summoned Gal Costa’s son, Gabriel Costa Penna, to recognize whether or not there was a stable union between the singer and Wilma Petrillo, after the Public Defender’s Office took a stand against the confirmation of the relationship. Wilma then made a new request for recognition of the union.
Recently, Gabriel made an out-of-court settlement with the singer’s cousins, Verônica and Priscila Silva. Together, they are committed to establishing the Gal Costa Foundation for the Incentive of Music and Culture, a non-profit institution originally planned in the singer’s will in 1997 (it was revoked in 2019).
