Investigators discovered⁤ Rod ‍had created a fake email account, impersonating a doctor, ‌to send Morgan a fabricated cancer diagnosis.‍ He didn’t stop there.

He even created a fraudulent bill from a doctor’s office, attempting⁢ to prove he was undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. According to Rachel ‌Ashe, the deputy chief assistant district attorney for Cherokee County, Rod meticulously constructed this entire deception ‍to gain Morgan’s sympathy.‌

He never had cancer.

Justice Served: A Lengthy Sentence

Rod Metzer ultimately⁤ pleaded guilty to 14 counts related to the attack on Morgan Metzer. ⁣The judge sentenced him to 70 years: 25‌ years in prison, followed by 45 years of probation.
