Gmail Now Allows Users to Change Email Addresses
Google is finally rolling out a long-requested feature: the ability to change the username portion of a Gmail address – the part before the @gmail.com. Alongside the introduction of new AI-powered features like Gemini, this update addresses a pain point for many users who created accounts years ago with usernames they now find embarrassing or unsuitable.

Users who regret their initial email address choice, perhaps due to a youthful whim, can now register a new username within Gmail. This new username will become the primary and publicly visible email address. Importantly, emails sent to the old address will continue to arrive in the inbox without interruption.
Users changing their email address will not lose access to their original address. It will be retained as a secondary alias associated with the account, ensuring continued receipt of emails.
