A musical short film by music producer and performer GUSTAVO, combining adaptations of four new songs, will hit streaming and download platforms. Together with the publication of the music video, the author releases the DELUXE version of the album “Tagad tikli saksila”.
“At the end of last year, together with the director Rihards Goets, we came up with a rather crazy idea – to film videos for all four new compositions. This is how we came up with the idea of a marathon of singles and short videos, in which they would be published once a week to be combined into a musical short film at the end of the month,” comments the author.
“Within my work and within the local hip hop genre, a musical short film, which combines the screenplays of several clips, containing a single narrative, is something first. When developing the script, this format, which combines a lot of different material and at the same time is very compact, many times, the director of the clip, Rihardas Göts, made us go outside the usual pattern of making music videos. And that was the most interesting. We are very pleased with the result and the fact that the video production company “film naked” was involved in the creation of the clip, who realized it at an extremely high professional level. The volume was big, because at times there were around 70 people on the set.” – Gustavo comments on the process of making the musical short film.
“While preparing for this year’s only Gustavo concert, or the arena show, which this time will be dedicated to the latest studio album “Tagad tikli salidu”, I came to the understanding that the album should be updated again, refreshing it with new material additions. I remember that I started the creative process with the thought, what’s missing from this album if you look at it as unfinished material. That’s how I came up with compositions that are more applicable to the sub-genre of rap stories and would fit well in the program of an arena-sized show. That’s how the intense track “Kāds skars?” was born, which illustrates the time, when I started working on the material for the album and that’s when the war in Ukraine started. This was followed by the song “decisions decisions” about the side effects of the information-dense era. Then the musically extravagant composition “Zeme atveras” was born with the participation of the young talent Wiesulis. And at the end of the single marathon, a song with an intriguing the name “ISA” and a musical étude “About repetition”, in which radio personality Sanda Dejus participates”, – shares the author.
As previously reported, this year’s only Gustavo concert or arena show will take place on December 6 in Arena Riga. The concert will be dedicated to the fourth studio album “Tagad tikli saksi”. The organizers of the concert promise that this time the big room of Arena Riga will be used in terms of scenography in such a way that it can be safely said – yes, this is a thorough arena show, which is a pleasure not only to listen to, but also to watch. Gustavo explains that it will definitely be his most dynamic and dramatic concert program so far, which will combine material from the new album and, of course, the brightest hits of all time.
