Specifically, in a subsequent statement signed by the interim prime minister, Patrick Michel Boivert, in the absence of the head of government Ariel Henry, It is detailed that the state of emergency will govern from March 7 until April 3.

In addition, the Government decrees a curfew in that department for this Thursday friday and saturday from 18:00 to 5:00 local time and domingo from 20:00 to 5:00 local time.

This measure excludes the law enforcement officers, firefighters, ambulance personnel, paramedics, and journalists duly identified.

Furthermore, it was detailed that its objective is “restore order and take appropriate measures in order to regain control of the situation”, add the text.

Total crisis in Haiti

These decisions are made after the state of emergency and the extendable 72-hour curfew decreed on Sunday for that area expired on Wednesday.

All this, due to the escalation of tension that has been experienced in the country for a week at the hands of armed gangs and in the absence of Ariel Henry, currently in Puerto Rico.

Violence increased after the Prime Minister’s commitment to hold elections no later than August 2025 was announced on Thursday last week.

Now Henry is in Puerto Rico, where he landed on Tuesday after failing to do so in Dominican Republic and after several days in unknown whereabouts.
