MOSCOW – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said intra-Palestinian meetings will be held in Moscow from February 29 to March 1-2 2024.

Representatives from various Palestinian resistance groups including Hamas and Fatah are heading to Moscow for talks on the ongoing war in Gaza as well as the potential formation of a unified Palestinian government.

Bogdanov told state news agency TASS on 16 February 2024 that intra-Palestinian meetings would be held in Moscow from 29 February to 1-2 March.

Bognadov also said representatives from around 14 Palestinian organizations had been invited from various Middle Eastern countries, including Syria and Lebanon.

“Moscow’s goal is to help the various Palestinian powers agree to unite their ranks politically,” he explained, according to the Anadolu report.

“We start from the fact that the Palestine Liberation Organization has been and remains the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, and has been accepted by the international community and us,” he said.

Resignation of the Palestinian Authority Government

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh on Monday officially handed over his government’s resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas.

In a statement, Shtayyeh said, “This decision was taken in light of political, security and economic developments related to the aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and the unprecedented escalation in the West Bank, including the city of Jerusalem.”
