An outraged Auchana customer wrote to the editorial office of the o2.pl portal, describing a situation in which, in his opinion, he was robbed by the store. “This is how Auchan cheats on weight. They sell products that are overweight by more than 50 percent.” – he said. The man bought smoked, steamed bacon from Auchan’s own brand.

The bacon packaging stated that the net weight of the product was 822 grams. However, something prompted the customer to check the actual weight of the bacon. The kitchen scale showed only 379 grams.

“I paid more than I expected, so I analyzed the bill. The weight seemed suspiciously high, because the product weighed little, and on the receipt it weighed almost 1 kg,” the customer wrote to o2.pl. At the same time, he added that he had never had a similar situation before, and he did his shopping in Krakow at ul. Bora-Komorowski.

Auchan replies. Translated as “anomaly in the production process”

In an interview with the o2.pl portal, the Auchana press office, after prior consultation with the manufacturer, said that “there was a one-time anomaly in the production process”. “This particular product was randomly sampled for testing on February 19, 2024 – result: grammage compliance,” says Hanna Bernatowicz, Auchana spokeswoman.

As explained by the manufacturer, the most likely cause of the non-compliance was a situation in which, during the transport of the packaged product, the drive-through scale recorded the weight of two pieces on the scale. The machine printed one label with the weight of two sides. At the same time, the spokesman said that he invited the reader to the customer service point to pick up a full-size bacon.
