Witan Sulaeman had to get five stitches on his head after the Indonesia vs Guinea match in the 2024 Olympic playoffs, Thursday (9/5). Witan suffered a head injury as a result of a collision with Guinea’s Issiaga Camara in the 24th minute.
Two controversial penalties marked the match which Guinea won 1-0 over the Indonesian U-23 National Team in the 2024 Olympic playoffs at INF Clairefontaine, France, Thursday (9/5) evening WIB. This defeat meant that Indonesia failed to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the 24th minute a terrible incident occurred after Witan Sulaeman was headbutted by Guinea player Issiaga Camara.
As a result, Witan’s head leaked and had to be wrapped in bandages by the Indonesian medical team. Even though he was bleeding from the head, Witan continued the match until the end.
But after the match, Witan Sulaeman had to receive further treatment from the Indonesian team of doctors. Witan reportedly had to have five stitches on his leaking head.
This news became known from an upload by Witan’s wife, Rismahani on Instagram according to the Indonesia vs Guinea match, Thursday (9/5) evening.
“He’s not fine. This is not a joke. He was crying. He was bandaged throughout the match because his head was cracked and he stayed until the last minute. Crazy! At the end of the match he had to have five stitches,” said Rismahani, quoted from his personal Instagram Story.
“Thank you for your efforts, father! With all due respect, captain,” added Rismahani.
In this match, Indonesia lost through a Guinea penalty scored by Ilaix Moriba in the 29th minute.
Until the match ended no additional goals were scored. Indonesia lost 0-1 to Guinea and hopes of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics were dashed this time.
The victory over Indonesia means Guinea will qualify for the 2024 Olympics and will certainly be in Group A along with hosts France, the United States and New Zealand.
