Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Care and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, met with Mr. Jeremy Hopkins, Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF in Egypt,” Dr. Moataz Saleh, Director of the Nutrition Program at UNICEF, and Dr. Mutreb Jan. , Assistant Director of the Health Program and Acting Director of the Child Survival and Development Division at UNICEF, at the agency’s headquarters in Cairo.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki praised the role of UNICEF in Egypt and its efforts to support the services provided by the health care sector in Egypt, praising the organization’s fruitful cooperation with the Health Care Authority during the last period in programs targeting maternal and child health and nutrition and awareness programs for them in the governorates of implementing the system. The meeting discussed cooperation to evaluate the services provided by the Health Care Authority, related to maternal and child health in the governorates of the first phase of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system (Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, Suez), and follow up on the improvement of their health indicators, in addition to cooperation. To develop specialized work guides in this field in accordance with the latest international standards to contribute to implementing best practices and providing optimal care for maternal and child health, especially with the expansion of the implementation of comprehensive health insurance in the second governorates of “Damietta, Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, Minya, and North Sinai” during the coming period.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with international organizations to enhance access to sustainable health development and achieve the goals of Egypt’s 2030 strategy. He also stressed the keenness of the General Authority for Health Care to conclude a strategic partnership with UNICEF Egypt and cooperate to keep pace with the latest developments, stressing further cooperation during the coming period between sides.

For his part, the representative of the United Nations “UNICEF in Egypt” praised the role of the General Authority for Health Care in the rapid development of the health care sector in Egypt, and its achievements and success in many aspects of the development of the health care sector, including the development of infrastructure and health informatics, and the development of medical service packages.
