Singer Luísa Sonza, born in Tuparendi, Rio Grande do Sul, is mobilized on social media in favor of humanitarian aid to the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which is in a state of calamity after being heavily hit by torrential rains. However, the artist made a mistake when demanding help from President Lula (PT) and First Lady Janja da Silva, using a video that has no relation to the tragedy in southern Brazil.

Although she was on a schedule in Italy on Friday (3), Luísa Sonza was mobilized by the climate tragedy that has already devastated more than 150 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul. On Instagram, the artist shared a video of an elderly woman who, in the midst of flooding, refuses to leave her pet dog. Sonza profiled President Lula (PT) and First Lady Janja crying out for help.

It turns out that the singer did not pay attention to the origin of the video in question. The recording is a case registered in Argentina and the lady who appears is Floriana Rodas, 85 years old, from the city of Corrientes. The elderly woman was recorded by her son in the middle of the flood, when she refused to abandon her pet. The video has been circulating on social media since March, before the recent catastrophe in Rio Grande do Sul.

On X/Twitter, Sonza tried to help the woman who appears in the video. “Does anyone have this lady’s contact information? Or her family’s,” she asked. After receiving some alerts about the origin of the video, she deleted the publications, both on Elon Musk’s social network and on Instagram.

Despite the mistake, Luísa Sonza continues to use social media to attract fans’ attention to the disaster in Rio Grande do Sul. “Continue helping, but also cover the authorities. We need to know what will be done with the money donated, like these families will recover what they lost and actions to ensure that the State is prepared in rainy situations. We are experiencing a huge, very sad tragedy!”, he posted on Sunday afternoon (5).
