Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian men’s badminton team managed to beat South Korea, thereby bringing Indonesia through to the semifinals of the 2024 Thomas Cup. This prestigious badminton event took place at the Hi Tech Zone Sports Center, Chengdu, China on Friday (3/5/2024).
Indonesia beat South Korea with a final score of 3-1, with wins achieved by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, and the deadly duo Fajar Alfian/Daniel Marthin. Meanwhile, the pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana had to suffer defeat.
The country that also qualified and will face Indonesia is Taiwan. Taiwan advanced to the semifinals after beating Denmark with a score of 3-1 in the quarter-final match which was held on Friday (3/5).
Meanwhile, China also managed to ensure their place in the semifinals after beating India with a score of 3-1 in the quarter-final match which was held the day before, on Thursday (2/5) to be precise.
Not to be left behind, Malaysia also achieved success in its struggle to reach the semifinals after beating Japan with a score of 3-1 in the quarter-finals.
Indonesia will face Taiwan, which managed to eliminate the 2016 Thomas Cup champion, Denmark. The 2024 Thomas Cup semifinals will be a fierce match which will take place on Saturday (4/5/2024) at 16.00 WIB.
