The decline in iPhone sales occurred in all regions, except Europe. The biggest decline occurred in China, up to 8%, due to weakening economic factors and tough competition from Huawei. But Apple CEO Tim Cook remains optimistic about the iPhone’s performance in China.

Even though its main source of revenue decreased, Apple still managed to beat analyst expectations. Overall Apple posted revenue of USD 90.8 billion, beating analyst estimates of USD 90.01 billion, with net profit of USD 23.6 billion.

Revenue from services sectors such as iCloud, Apple TV+ and Apple Music rose 14% from the previous year to USD 23.87 billion. Mac sales also rose to USD 7.5 billion.

“(Mac sales) were really driven by the strength of the new MacBook Air powered by the M3 chip. About half of our MacBook Air buyers this quarter were new Mac users,” Cook said.

iPad sales fell from USD 6.67 billion last year to USD 5.56 billion. This is not surprising because Apple has not updated the iPad line since 2022.
