The upcoming international competition sees a talented group of Irish athletes poised to make their mark in the 4x400m relays.Let’s take a closer look at the athletes representing Ireland and the dedicated coaching teams supporting them.
Women’s 4x400m Relay Team
Several dedicated athletes will be competing in the Women’s 4x400m Relay. Here’s a breakdown of each athlete and their background:
Clíodhna Manning: Representing Kilkenny City Harriers, Clíodhna is guided by the expertise of Coach Gerard O’donnell and Aideen Sinnott.
Michelle Duggan: A member of UCD AC,Michelle benefits from the coaching of Adam McMullen.
Jenna Breen: competing with city of Lisburn AC, Jenna is under the guidance of coach Grant Barker.
I’ve found that strong athlete-coach relationships are crucial for success, and these pairings demonstrate that commitment.
Reserves Ready to Step Up
Having reserves prepared is vital for any relay team. Here’s who’s ready to contribute if needed:
Érin Friel: Serving as a non-traveling reserve for the Women’s 4x400m Relay, Érin represents Letterkenny AC and trains with Coach Kathryn McDevitt.
* Ciaran Carthy: Also a non-traveling reserve,Ciaran will support the Mixed 4x400m relay team from Dundrum South Dublin AC,coached by Kenneth Kiernan & Ed Carthy.
The Importance of a Strong support System
You’ll notice the consistent thread of dedicated coaching throughout this team. Here’s what works best in my experience: a supportive coaching environment allows athletes to thrive under pressure.
These athletes represent the future of Irish track and field, and I’m excited to see their performances on the international stage. Their dedication, combined with the expertise of their coaches, sets the stage for a compelling competition.
