Some three million Palestinians live in the West Bank,alongside over 500,000 Israelis settled in colonies considered illegal under international law,excluding East Jerusalem,which is occupied and annexed by Israel.
“The goverment of Israel has today declared, de facto, that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish peopel,” welcomed the Yesha Council, an organization representing the majority of West Bank settlers.Israeli settlement growth in the West Bank reached a peak in 2025 since the United Nations began tracking it in 2017, according to a report by the UN Secretary-General.
