Military Israel attacked a warehouse storing aid from the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA. A total of 4 people died in the attack.

Reported by AFP, Thursday (14/3/2024), UNRWA said “one of its staff was killed and 22 others were injured” in an Israeli attack that hit its food distribution center in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

The Health Ministry in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip said four people were killed in a “warehouse bombing” including UNRWA staffer Husni Youssef Mussa Abu Jazar.

It also said that Muhammad Abu Hasna, a Hamas police officer responsible for security at the UNRWA center, was killed.

The Israeli military said Abu Hasna was a “Hamas terrorist”. Israel added in a statement that he was killed in a “precise strike” in Rafah.

The army released a black-and-white video of the attack, without specifying the exact location in Rafah.

The deadly attack highlights concerns over deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where Israel’s military campaign to eliminate Hamas has been underway since the Palestinian group’s Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel.

The Israeli military said Abu Hasna “was a combat supporter of Hamas’ military wing”.

He added that Abu Hasna “coordinated the activities of various Hamas units,” headed the “intelligence operations room,” and was “also involved in taking control of humanitarian aid and distributing it to Hamas.”
