GAZA – Resistance faction Irak Kataib Hezbollah said it was ready to arm its Jordanian counterparts “to defend our brothers in Palestine.”

The announcement was made by Abu Ali Al-Askari, a senior official in the Iran-backed group, which is also part of the Islamic Resistance coalition in Iraq within the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

“The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has prepared its equipment to equip our brothers, the Islamic Resistance Mujahideen in Jordan, to meet the needs of 12,000 fighters with light and medium weapons, anti-armor launchers, tactical missiles, ammunition and tons of explosives,” said Al-Askari on Telegram, reported by Middle East Monitor.

“This effort aims to form an integrated force to defend our brothers in Palestine. Let us start with the disruption of land routes to the Zionist entity.”

Jordan is known as one of the Arab countries that has opened a land bridge to the occupied country to bypass the Houthi blockade of the Red Sea, providing food and goods, although this is denied by the government.

Protesters gathered outside the Israeli Embassy in Amman in connection with the ongoing war in Gaza and demanding the closure of trade routes.

Al-Askari’s comments also came after an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which killed two senior members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The targeted killing came after a drone strike hours earlier on the southern Israeli port city of Eilat, which was claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

More and more protesters gathered in front of the embassy. They appear to be more organized and are making more demands despite intense diplomatic efforts by Jordan to quickly reach a ceasefire in Gaza and provide aid to the Palestinians.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, an Iraqi security official rejected Kataib Hezbollah’s announcement. “The situation in Iraq does not allow for the arming of groups abroad with the aim of carrying out ‘suspicious’ activities,” said the official, who asked not to be named. “Iraq will not allow violations of the sovereignty of its neighbors.” He added that there was “no indication on the ground” that weapons could be delivered to fighters in Jordan.
