According to reports from international media, Bolsonaro suffers from erysipelas, a type of bacterial skin infection that usually causes fever and pain.

The former president (2019-2022) arrived in Manaus on Friday, where he participated in a campaign event for the pre-candidacy of federal deputy Alberto Neto for mayor of Manaus, capital of Amazonas.

Bolsonaro “He was admitted to the Santa Júlia Hospital yesterday (Saturday) morning with symptoms of dehydration and an infectious skin process”the medical center reported on Sunday in a statement.

“He returned to the hospital after his commitments, where he remains hospitalized for venous antibiotic therapy and hydration,” he added.

Neto published a photo on his social networks on Sunday with Bolsonaro, who is lying in a hospital room and smiling.

Looking ahead to the October municipal elections in Brazil, Bolsonaro has dedicated himself to traveling around the country to support candidates from his Liberal Party.

In recent years, he has undergone several surgeries and other interventions in the abdominal region due to a stab wound he suffered in 2018, during the election campaign in which he was victorious.
