Jakarta – Losing a big role or project for an actor may be a ‘must have’ experience. But what would happen if you lost two big superhero projects when they were in the early era of film development.

This was experienced by Jake Gyllenhaal in just two years, where he was initially offered to play live action Spider-Man and Batman. What’s the story?

Following the debut performance Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker in Spider-Man in 2002 with director Sam Raimithere was a season where Maguire might not return for Spider-Man 2 in 2004.

Due to a pre-existing back injury after the first film that was allegedly aggravated during the filming of Seabiscuit in 2003, negotiations for Maguire’s return in Spider-Man 2 were somewhat tense between the actor’s team and Columbia Pictures.

They also used threat tactics by including Jake Gyllenhaal’s name as a substitute when negotiating with Maguire’s team.

This was successful and Tobey Maguire returned to play two Spider-Man titles with Columbia Pictures. It might be quite strange if Jake suddenly replaced Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man even though recasts are normal.

Not long after being just a threat to Tobey, Jake got an offer to play in Batman Begins (2005). Christopher Nolan.

In his interview with Variety, Jake admitted that he was contacted directly by Nolan and underwent casting with several other well-known actors. Unfortunately, he was told that he didn’t get the role even though he was quite sure he could play the Prince of Gotham.

Finally, his big superhero role came after dozens of years later. This time, not as the protagonist but as the main villain in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
