Justin Bieber recently secured a major victory at the Fanatics Games during Fanatics Fest in New York, topping the overall leaderboard to claim a $1 million grand prize before dividing the funds between event competitors and charity.
The star-studded competition, which is featured in the special Fanatics Fest: All Access streaming on the ESPN app, brought together top names from across the sports and entertainment worlds. Alongside Bieber, Brady, and Djokovic, the competitor lineup featured Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski, and former LSU gymnast and social media personality Livvy Dunne, according to broadcast details.
During the event, Bieber caught viewers’ attention by challenging Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic to an impromptu match of ping-pong. Before stepping up to the table, the singer confidently declared himself a superior table tennis player who could take on the 24-time Grand Slam winner. Djokovic ultimately won the match, later admitting that he had initially underestimated Bieber’s athletic skills. Bieber accepted the defeat gracefully, telling reporters and fans that he had to give his opponent due credit for the win.
Charitable Payout and Fan Rewards
Despite dropping the table tennis match to Djokovic, Bieber accumulated enough points across the weekend’s various challenges to capture the overall Fanatics Games crown. Winning the top spot secured a $1 million grand prize, but the singer opted not to keep the money for himself.
Instead of pocketing the cash, Bieber distributed the entire $1 million payout to support both everyday fans and philanthropic causes. He allocated $500,000 directly to the 50 fan competitors who took part in the weekend games, handing each participant $10,000. The remaining $500,000 was directed to charitable organizations. Reflecting on the unique atmosphere of the gathering, Bieber noted in the ESPN special that such a community-driven event is rare.
