Machine gun fire, firebombs and the screams of merciless attackers glorifying Allah and shooting in all directions. Terrorists from the Islamic State (ISIS) have published several videos that show the course of a brutal attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow in Krasnogorsk. The radical organization ISIS claimed responsibility for the massacre, which left over 150 dead and more than 150 injured. “It is part of the Islamic State’s war with countries that fight against Islam,” the terrorist organization said according to the Daily Mail. But the Russian Federation blames Ukraine for the bloodbath, which fundamentally rejects it.

The drastic video shows 90 seconds of the bloody attack in progress, where four terrorists burst into the concert hall with submachine guns, knives, pistols and firebombs in their hands, aiming to kill as many people as possible. The video also shows a knife-wielding man running into a building yelling, “Bring the machine guns! Kill them all and show no mercy!” Then another man enters the hall with a yellow and black machine gun and starts shooting wildly around him.

Videos of the attackers leaving the concert building and saying they “punished” the infidels are also circulating on social media.

One of the group of shooters shouted slogans: “The infidels will be defeated. God is great.” The footage was published by Al-Amaq, the official news agency of the Islamic State. The attack is led by four perpetrators wearing dark clothing, balaclava and baseball caps, who begin by making a religious hand gesture long associated with ISIS. The footage is very drastic and shows the attack in all its brutality: the attackers are shooting people, throwing firebombs in all directions, shouting and glorifying Allah and slitting one man’s throat.

The published video is one minute and 31 seconds long, reported. According to her, it shows a close-up view of one of the gunmen starting to shoot at several people as he apparently enters the concert hall. The terrorist organization also published a photo of four people who allegedly attacked a concert hall in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, writes . Russian authorities say they detained the four in the morning as they tried to reach the Ukrainian border. Russian President Vladimir Putin also hinted at the connection with Ukraine in his speech on the attack, but the Russian authorities, on the other hand, do not comment much on the possible involvement of ISIS.

EXPEDITIONS WITH THE PRINCE

Kyiv denies any association with the event. According to one of the Russian parliamentarians, Tajik passports were found in the car in which the suspects were fleeing from Moscow. Russian media published footage of one of the detainees answering questions in Tajik.

Islamic State has also previously claimed responsibility for a major terrorist attack in Belgium, which took place on the same date as Friday’s attack, March 22, but eight years earlier. At that time, the Brussels airport and the subway were hit, the assassinations claimed 32 lives and 340 were injured.

According to the US Department of Defense and the Pentagon, the attackers could come from the most radical branch of the Islamic State-Khorasan, which is known for its brutality. This is the Afghan branch of the group, which was formed in 2014 in eastern Afghanistan, as a response to airstrikes by US military aircraft and bombers that destroyed the strongholds of the Islamic State.

“The Islamic State-Khorasan has been fixated on Russia in the last two years and often criticizes Putin in its propaganda,” pointed out Colin Clarke of the New York research group Soufan Center. Michael Kugelman of Washington’s Wilson Center said the group “sees Russia as complicit in activities that regularly oppress Muslims.” He added that the group also includes a number of Central Asian fighters who have their own problems with Moscow.

AN INTERVIEW WITH JIRÍ PÉNÁS

The owner of the concert hall, destroyed in Friday’s shooting and subsequent fire on Sunday, announced that he will restore the building. All that remained of Crocus City Hall after the attack and fire were the charred iron girders and steel frames of hundreds of seats. The ballroom complex with a capacity of more than 6,000 seats was built by billionaire Aras Agalarov’s Crocus Group in 2009. It is part of a large complex of shopping centers, restaurants and hotels on the western outskirts of the capital, just off the Moscow Ring Road.
