KPN will replace existing Genexis fiber optic boxes with Nokia model – Computer – News

My reaction is a bit exaggerated, but… it is quite sad that many people at ODF often think of Open Dutch Fiber as a company, while ODF is actually a term/infra that was used and conducted by Reggefiber years before and later after the takeover by KPN, by KPN has been continued.

KPN-ODF
Third parties (Odido, Freedom, Trined, etc.) can install equipment in the POP (central), they only rent the last piece of fiber between the POP and the home. ODF has the advantage that a provider can determine the full range of TV, internet (speeds), telephony and other services, but also the choice of which NTUs and FTUs are used.

KPN-WBA
KPN Netwerk NL determines what you can offer as a provider. Until about 4-5 years ago, the maximum speed at KPN was 500Mbit, while T-Mobile at that time (via KPN-ODF) already offered 750Mbit and even 1Gbit. In general, in this case KPN Netwerk NL determines which NTUs/FTUs are used. This connection is considerably more expensive.

That is why in some municipalities (Deventer and Dordrecht for example) where Reggefiber has laid the fibers, you see that Odido offers fiber optic internet at the same prices as where it supplies via the Open Dutch Fiber network.

What really pisses me off is that a shop like Open Dutch Fuckers relies on a term that was once marketed by a damn good company, is still marketed by KPN Netwerk NL and therefore requires an explanation of the differences and clashes can regularly arise in which people sometimes say that KPN-ODF is not possible or does not exist (1) (2).

The “not on the KPN network” already excludes KPN-ODF. There’s that “Or does this differ per region?” was the reason I gave extra explanation, including about (the difference in) offer (2 gig vs 8 gig maximum speed), depending on where you live.

8Gbit does not have much to do with Open Dutch Fiber in any case, I do not have Open Dutch Fiber here, but I can also purchase 8Gbit from Odido in the KPN area (via KPN-ODF).

I don’t really know the maximum speeds. I know that Odido can supply 8Gbit via, among others, the Open Dutch Fiber Network, but also provides this via KPN-ODF. In my area there is only KPN, and KPN-ODF in particular, and I can order 8Gbit from Odido according to the zip code check.

Does this have something to do with those irresistibly good 2x €25 for 1 gig at home and unlimited mobile at T-Mobile, or not? I am serious.

No, you’re probably referring to Away and Home. That was an offer from I think about 7-8 years ago (?). There was a short time where you could get a 750Mbit subscription for €25.00 (price fighter time), then this became 750Mbit and you also had to have a mobile subscription and you received extra channel packages worth €7.50, which allowed you to could choose some themes.
