New Dance Studio Planned for Grand-Lieu Cultural Space
A new dance studio is being constructed adjacent to the Grand-Lieu cultural space, on a portion of the parking area alongside the cemetery. The expansion will connect to the existing hall, which will be renovated to provide improved facilities for student planning. The new studio will feature a mirrored wall and a specialized floor, identical to those found in the rehearsal studios of the opéra garnier [Opéra Garnier Website], according to Christophe Lefrançois.
Project Details and Timeline
The project, estimated to cost over €300,000, is seeking €200,000 in funding from the state and the regional government. Construction began earlier in the year, with completion scheduled for the start of the 2026 academic year. Vincent Yvon, the municipal official in charge of buildings, assured that the construction will not disrupt existing dance classes, which are held every evening starting at 4:00 PM, as work will cease before classes begin.
Strategic Location and Benefits
The extension will occupy only two parking spaces. The location was deliberately chosen to maintain the unity of the municipal school of music, dance, and theater, and to facilitate connections between the different disciplines, explained the director. This strategic placement ensures continuity and collaboration between the various artistic programs offered at the cultural center.
