Samsung is rumored to be using its own GPU in the upcoming SoC flagship Exynos 2600. It is suspected that this step will mark Samsung’s separation from AMD, which has been working together to bring RDNA-based GPUs to mobile platforms since the Exynos 2200.

This rumor came from a fairly trusted tipster, namely Roland Quandt. He said that the successor to the Exynos 2400 which will be released in 2025, namely the Exynos 2500, will still use the XClipse GPU based on AMD RDNA. However, in 2026 Samsung will use its own GPU.

Details regarding the Exynos 2600 SoC itself are still very limited at this time, especially regarding the GPU from Samsung, considering the release window is still long. However, it is very likely that Samsung will use AMD RDNA as a basis for designing its GPU.

The interesting fact is that Qualcomm also did the same thing when they first designed the Adreno GPU, which is currently included in their Snapdragon SoC. Adreno at that time was based on AMD Imageon IP, which Qualcomm licensed in 2008 to add 3D graphics capabilities to mobile platforms.

It must be admitted that as time goes by, Samsung’s flagship SoC continues to show development in a better direction and AMD plays quite a role in this. After the Exynos 2200, its successor the Exynos 2400 (Galaxy S24 Series) also uses an RDNA-based GPU and provides significant improvements.

While the Exynos 2500 will be embedded in the Galaxy S25 Series smartphone in 2025, the Exynos 2600 will be used in the Galaxy S26 line which will launch in 2026. Hmm… this is getting more interesting, Samsung’s flagship SoC.
